    One word: stunning!
  • You're right René these images are totally stunning! I wish I had a 5D MkII or 7D when I filmed NZ Xpress vimeo.com/8320849 last year in New Zealand to give truly justice to the landscapes.

The 35mm did a great job, but this is where you see that 35mm and mostly HV30 have their limitations!

Great shooting. I think my favorites shots included the Puffins and the hot springs.

How did you capture the audio? Was it captured at location, or was it added in later?
  •
  • Paul Hassell plus 1 year ago
    GORGEOUS!

Love the audio on the deep bubbling hot springs. Using the H4n ZOOM?
  • iamkalaniprince plus 1 year ago
Amazing how much good sound adds to beautiful images !
  • iamkalaniprince plus 1 year ago
I should actually say fantastic sound !, Were the sounds from the caribou or whatever those were, recorded at the location ? Terriffic : )

    Love and Aloha

    Thank you for your comments.

The audio was both captured on location using only the internal mic and some of it is from a H4n Zoom. The Zoom is a really cool device.

This is brilliantly done. Are you saying all of this video was shot on a 5D Mark II? That's impressive, very impressive. What lenses did you use?
  • Gunnar Konradsson pro 1 year ago
Hi Sean. Everything is shot on the same 5D mark II and only with the 24-105 f/4L and the 70-200 f/4L lenses.
  •
  • Hemant Anand 1 year ago

nice video...but i had to switch off the music
  • Gunnar Konradsson pro 1 year ago
I knew that this song was going to be a bit hard, but it's a old iclelandic rhyme and is as icelandic as the pictures.
  • Sami Sinervä plus 1 year ago
I think the music is great. Emotional, and I don't mind not understanding at all. Really stupid comment.
  • Stedanko 1 year ago
haha..whatever sami...ur taste is the best

  • Pascal Montjovent 1 year ago
Beautiful! I found the real sounds unnecessary, the pictures already told the story. Why add sound of a chicken when you see a chicken? ;-)
  • Gunnar Konradsson pro 1 year ago
    Thank you Pascal.
When i took the video of the chicken i could hear it, smell it and see it. I think it makes alot of sense to let people hear and see, stimulate as many senses as you can.
  • Hassan Saddiq 1 year ago
i agree gunnar. beautiful video, hope to one day film there!

Nice work Gunnar. I love visiting Iceland. I have been to many of those places. I do business in Reykjavik, but I love the fishing in the Ranga and in the north at Myvatn. You have very nicely captured the feel of the countryside. I will buy you a beer next time I am in the neighborhood!

  • What you need is a XLR audio convert for the 5D.. The sound design is very harsh and flat, it's not very smooth.. It's a shame because the picture is beautiful..
  • Gunnar Konradsson pro 1 year ago
That is on the "to buy list"
  •

My favorite shot was the small men climbing the glacier. They looked like blobs of dirt until they slowly moved; a sheer moment.

Was the shutter speed set to something faster than 30fps? Some of the bird wing movement seemed to stutter.
  •
  • Wow... Absolutely stunning images. I love the shot looking up @ the birds above. Great work!

Great video, loved the music, thought the audio could use some work though. Horse hooves and the final shore line sound were off quite a bit. Just some constructive criticism, great stuff though.
