I loved the butt plug microphone. It really pulled the room together. Seriously, nice work from every department. Club Tropicana meets Blade Runner meets the Matrix. I will be watching in the future.
  • Andrew Hoeveler 1 year ago
Yes, that was the first thing that struck me as odd... the crystal butt plug.

This was quite a trip. I'd love to watch a movie or better yet a musical that picks up where this leaves off.

You people must be joking, this video is tedious, childish, pretentious, makes absolutely no sense and the thing with the mutating singing head is highly disturbing.
Why does everybody here act like a yes-man, afraid of any criticism trying to keep this "self content paradise" alive? It is rather worthless to have only and just only positive comments when the ones who dislike it keep their mouth shut. Where's the point of that?
  • Senseii 1 year ago
    Settle down grasshopper!

OK, according to you this video is childish blah, blah, blah . . . . .

These people did what they could with whatever the budget available to them and presented a music video at their level.

For you to criticize them, you must show this forum a better music video that YOU have done.

Do you have such a video that you could upload?

There are ways to apply critique. One way is to give constructive criticism. If you do not have that ability and do not care to learn that there are such things then, perhaps this may not be the right place for you.
  • Laura 1 year ago
Apparently this video strikes you as childish?
Personally, i think its you who can't appreciate the uniqueness yeasayer has and the individuality that sets them different than any other band. They are WONDERFUL musicians and if you cant appreciate the arts in this video, then don't watch it.
  • Laura 1 year ago
    ps. raves arent childish. :)

No Sir! Everyone has the right to express his own opinion.
I do NOT have to fulfil certain (or dictated) standards to be allowed to do so.
You suggest that if I don't like this video that I simply don't watch it - that's a tautology, first I have to watch it to decide if I like it or not.
You simply have to bear that there are people that have another opinion. You can not walk around and tell people to shut up if they do not share your opnion, except, your a living in a cultural background that forbids that right in the first place, which I can't tell since this a global forum.
  • MIchel 1 year ago
wow, is it you NEO? Coming to save us, the uncritical mass, from our ignorance? Thanks bro!!
  • theuncriticalmass 1 year ago
    Yeah, whatever.
Very arrogant comment in my opinion - thanks for the support anyway ...

The video is great, the makeup, the wardrobe, the colors + photography. Really nice ideas.
But honestly, i think the music doesn't fit, it's seems like the band is pretending to look so contemporary, but their music is not. It's not bad music, but nothing really new or really avant garde.

I really love this song, and the video for Ambling Alp is amazing, but I'm not a big fan of this video.
The story made no sense and contributed nothing to the video, just sort of cutting off at the end with nothing happening. The whole space-age 80's hipster look of it was pretty lame, and the band's acting in the video was a bit overboard on silliness.
However, I did like that freaky shape-shifting face thing used at the end of the video. It's a shame they didn't go anywhere with it.

I'm a big Yeasayer fan, and the new album is brilliant, but this video just didn't do it for me.

The band is obviously trying to get some sort of message across. I like the game played on the kabbalistic sephirot table with geometrical figures (pyramid, cube, etc). There's occult imagery throughout the film, like all the black and white checkered costumes (western ying-yang). The message is that we're all one, the black guy gets it, but he's thrown out of the club by the all hipsters that want to remain in the flashy dualistic illusion. The homeless guy outside the club is dressed somewhat indigenously and is thus resonating as a shaman.

Amazing, one of my favorite modern music videos. Kevin Phillips is extremely talented. Anyone else question why the morphing faces are all white skinned? Easier to CGI?? Haha.
