Cleveland Heights community leader and restaurateur Jim Brennan was killed during an attempted robbery in the basement of his popular family pub on June 30. The criminals have already been caught and have confessed. Harvey Pekar's widow, Joyce Brabner, has joined a fundraising effort for Jim's family, noting that "Four years ago this week, the Cleveland Heights community came out for me in the same warmly supportive and generous way, when Harvey suddenly died."

Joyce has contributed "at least 200 Jazz CDs owned by the famous comic book author, TV, movie and radio personality and noted jazz critic and collector Harvey Pekar, plus some rare comic books, various American Splendor souvenirs-- and her copy of the soundtrack of the couple's award winning movie" to a fundraising event to support Jim Brennan’s family and the Brennan’s Colony restaurant.

Early birds may bid on the collection on E-Bay at
ebay.com/itm/200-Jazz-CDs-Souvenirs-Estate-of-Harvey-Pekar-American-Splendor-Charity-F-R-/331262033038?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item4d20c17c8e,

If not already sold, the collection will go to a silent auction-- at a considerably lower price (no shipping/handling)-- at the Cookout for the Colony, to be held in the Church of the Saviour’s North Parking Lot on Sat. July 19 from 4-8pm. There will be food for sale, a DJ, activities for children, and many other auction items.
