This is an installation HAM presented at the Meridian Gallery in San Francisco. After a week of brainstorming and soul-searching this is what popped out a few hours before the event: A text-message chat station where participants video chat with the person at the opposite station. Messages are typed on typewriters. Eventually the message sent from one station will loop through into the other station's typewriter so that the recipient can both read the message and respond by typing on top of it. This, in time, will be fed back again to the original machine. Around around ad infinitum. Since messages are not instantly received (it takes about an hour for a message to get from on side to the other) participants are not aware of what they are actually typing to each other, however two camcorders feed live images of each person's message into projectors, which project them for the audience to view. The audience witnesses communication that the actual participants are only partially aware of.
