With Story & Heart, our filmmaking community, we've been leading a 4 week collaborative course called Tell Amazing Stories.

Each week we've been joined by a guest educator (Ryan Booth, Joe Simon, Gnarly Bay, Capture) as we delve deep into everything that goes into telling an amazing story.

Then we issue what we've called an Exploration—a theme or challenge—and everyone in the course, us included, heads out into this huge world of ours to find, capture, and tell a relevant story.

"Sugar Wheel Works" is the film we crafted as part of Week 3's Exploration: "An Artistry".

As storytellers, we all want to create something that takes the viewer somewhere special, that leaves the viewer with something moving.

That was how we felt after interviewing Jude, owner at Sugar Wheel Works in Portland: we never knew why anyone would want to hand-make a wheel, but much more than that, we’d never considered the incredible power in something as ubiquitous as a bike to connect and let us be more present, more aware, of our crucial places in our communities.
