1st time-lapse attempt

I shot a 1 hour tape and sped it up in Vegas to 1min 39sec. I used velocity envelope set to 300% and then Ctrl+draged the time line to 12x. I rendered it to a lossless huffy then reimported it and added another envelope 300% and dragged to 1.6x

There may be a better or easier way to do this, I'm not sure. Any ideas?

I used Vegas color corrector (red highlights) and cookie cutter. Overall, I'm happy with this first attempt. We have some really beautiful sunsets here in the summer so hopefully I'll get this perfected by then

Comments and/or advice are welcome as always!

    Nice one.
You can use a script in vegas to pull a certain amount of frames a second then import all the stills and an image sequence. I have only done it once but it worked great and it was much faster than rerendering.

    Eugenia might know how.

Right click on the clip, properties, undersample to 0.250 or 0.200 instead of the 1.000. Also, while you are there, "disable resample".

Thanks for the feedback ill try that out

Really nice job; liked the music too!

In Premiere, with something like this, you would simply simply right-click on the clip and set the speed to 500% or 1000% or whatever. Why all these crazy steps?

vegas only does 300% and then if you ctrl drag it spepds t up again but it wasent enough so had to run it thru twice.. Eugenia gave me a tip though so im gonna try that out

    thanks for checking it out

    Very different with country music.

Vegas 7 allows you to directly drag a project file into the timeline as a standalone media. I wonder if you can save a 300% clip to a project, drag it to a new project, then speed it up again to override the limitation without saving a bulky lossless avi.

If you intented to darken the corners, a mask will look more natural. It's in the resizing/cropping.

I like it, especially the color of the sky.

Thanks for the advice, I just brought the project file into the timeline and it did allow to redo the drag. so that would cut out the lossess avi process. Ive brought other profile files in before dont know why I never thought to try it. as far as the dark corners I was just trying out the cooker cutter effect to give it more of a atristic feel hehe

    thanks for the feedback :)
