Use download link for better quality (6/9 WMVHD).
UPDATE 5/14: re-uploaded video with better downscale quality (=sharper).

Monument Valley, Utah (with bonus strong winds:-).

Shot with HF100 and WD-H43C. Encoded first with Sony Vegas pro using 32bit/gamma 2.222 to 1080p (then downconverted with another program). PP Group filter: Reduced red channel curve (and increase blue/green equally to not lose any luminance).

So you still prefer the 43C wide angle lens over your 37C? (I read about your comparison, 37C losing sharpness at full tele and 43C being very heavy for the camera) I am still in doubt as to which one I should get for my HF100.

I already owned the WD-H43 since I also have a HV20. I don't think I would have bought it for the HF100 even though it performs better at full tele end. It's heavy and more expensive. For this particular video you wouldn't have seen much difference (it's only at the full tele end).

Excellent video! You don't use a tripod?
  • Lucien Kleijkers 5 months ago
Thanks. Yeah I have a tripod but for casual shots I don't bring it with me (especially not for longer hikes). Almost all video's I posted here including Twin falls are without tripod. I usually can find some spots to put the camcorder on.

This is what it's about- going out and getting great shots- Thanks for this series of American landscapes! I too don't use a tripod but a friend used a converted walking stick (just a screw mount at the top making it a monopod) So you can hike with the stick and just set the camera on it for a steady shot! Do you use a polariser? I swear by them but you can get vignetting issues unless you like to crop to 2:35 aspect ratio. Keep hiking and getting great footage!
