    k. thanks very much. am slightly obsessed with this new medium, and hope to create a wide variety of short pieces in the coming months. there's so many angles to explore ya know? lol. am stumbling as i go, learning this all on my own in my free time - am always open to suggestions or criticisms. thanks for being here. warm embrace -
  • One thing I would recommend, especially for a song as beaty as this, is to first go through your entire time line and mark the really abrasive heavy beats in the song so that it's easier to cut with the beats (you don't always have to) but when you do they make the visual imagery that more powerful because they are oomphed. An example would be in the beginningat 0:04. I know at 0:09 you start cutting with it and later on. So perhaps if it is more consistent. Remember when you have a video, you have at least 5-10 seconds to wow and pull in the viewer so that they stick around for the entire thing. But I like that your images are so kinetic they keep my attention and make me wonder what I'm looking at. But really, as a whole, i really liked the lighting the most. It gives the entire video a dark mystique. I think you are doing a great job exploring angles and trying things out. The best way to learn is to do.

Agreed with karen about the excellent editing.
    Nice tattoos also ;)
  • evanoah sea 2 months ago
thank you christopher. the editing seems to come easy, just trusting instinct in this, going with the flow of what feels natural. it's all the other stuff i feel challenged by. lol! have a great weekend-

(chuckling), thank you! creepy is good. love creepy. am hoping to see more theatrical videos from some of our community around here. right now - am working on two more, though very different angles from this. will come back and do another dark one at some point later.

Super cool. Even better with a little alcohol flowing through the veins :). I think perhaps the Cocteau Twins is almost perfect music for short films.

Is evanoah sea the American Ken Russell or is he the American Federico Fellini? Decisions, decisions, I can't make up my mind. The American Ken Russell because though Ken Russell may be pushing eighty-one at least he is still alive.
  • evanoah sea 2 months ago
=) i love ken russell. i think lair of the white worm was my favorite. thank you fred.

I saw that. That was with Hugh Grant of all people. I think my favorite Ken Russell film is his, made in 1971, The Devils.
    Best Regards,
    Fred

    Well.... that was interesting.
    I liked it.
I'd like it better without any human form mixed with the object. It would have been a nice art by itself.
    The editing is fine.
Not everything has to be beat/cut oriented, since this is an abstract to begin with... there are no right or wrong cuts.
  • evanoah sea 2 months ago
what can i say kruze? my eighth video... it was a long harried mess of filming and exploring lighting and so forth -which i almost gave up on several times. had i not loved the song greatly, it would never have materialized. =) thank you for your support and guidance. peace

i have to be honest, i'm just experimenting, i have no training in this. i "feel" my way through things. and if i can do it, it's not that difficult. (just takes patience i guess). ;) thanks dan - appreciate your support.

thank you very much. i really am a beginner here in this, so to have your feedback really is great. i worked long and hard on this - all alone in my free moments over a few weeks. thank you for receiving the spirit of it. =)

well regardless you "have no training" you have an eye. and this just brings back this whole music era which was fantasstic. I think if they come out with a new cd - well if She does- you should head the Liz Frazer Film Festival contest ha ahaha .she should see these cocteau vids.
  • evanoah sea 11 days ago
haha! what a dream sequence that would be. i have been in love with so much of their music for a long time now. this particular album is my favorite and i waited for years to be able to create something around it. everything in this vid is from my "sacred wooden box"... things people have given to me since childhood. thanks for everything maria. (and liz, if you're ever around to read this, this video is a gift to you and the band. use it however you wish).
