awesome. great shots and editing. music went really well with it. what was the music on it? the think i think i liked most was the lighting. what did you do for lighting?
Hey thanks a lot. The song is by matmos, the song is struggle against. For lighting i used a red head kit. One 1k light and two 600w. I shot in a studio with white paper background.
very nice. so how did you get some of the shots to be so completely black in the BG? is it just that you had a lot of space because you were in a studio?
Looks like you've been watching Dexter. If you haven't, you should certainly check out the opening sequence.
I definitely dig your brown sugar shot.
Nice work!
were you making banana bread? Those macro shots of the brown sugar looked other worldly...amazing footage and the music really gives it a strange vibe.
do you do all zooms and pans in final cut or whatever? i guess i'm just curious how you maneuver your camera/tripod to achieve all those awesome close-ups.
i used a tripod for all my pans, and zoomed in on my camera, for the balloons video that was all final cut, i just set my camera up and then moved the camera around in final cut.
I also have that Matmos song, though I couldn't place the song or the musicians as I was watching. Thanks for saying who was playing.
Otherwise I probably would have spent a week with that music question nagging at the edge of my concentration. (WHERE have I heard that? I HAVE that CD! & it has to be in iTunes SOMEWHERE!)
Well it would take awhile to explain the settings, but in short form, 720p at 24 frames per second. I did do major color correction as well as using plug-ins, also having a good understanding of depth of field and lighting techniques is a huge importance. Hvx200 is an awesome camera, you have to know how to use it right though or your footage can turn out like shit. Cameras only do so much.
These closeups are hot. Nice shots; it does get a bit tiresome to watch extreme closeups over and over again, but they still look good. Try varying that zoom a bit. Nice work, though.
You could send it to Venice, next year!

I agree with Fahngool, I thought it was amazing and beautiful edits and quality. But given the idea of this 'rawness' would be nice to see it without the fleshy digits.
BTW, if you follow the tutorials, your 2 minute video doesn't have to be over 65 MBs, so that would save you quite some uploading time.

Very nice indeed. More to the point, great cuts.
ha ha.
Pretty cool.

And shot of course
You are not kidding!

Now I get to just enjoy the dessert saga.
How do you get such amazing quality. When i go back and watch mine, they look nothing like yours.
Do you mind sharing your settings for exporting? I'd love to get the quality of your videos for mine on this site.
Was that chocolate you were sprinkling over the eggs?!
you are a student?
if so, you must really like the people/atmosphere or something, cause filming wise, you probably surpassed your teachers by now.
or are you one of the teachers?
(i'm looking into VFS, if you have any advice)
Jordan could you let me know what settings on the HVX it was on?
Did you do some major color correction?
I'm just asking because i'm looking to buy a HVX and all your footage really intensifies my feelings on buying one.
