Final version of my.... well, of my final.
I played with the colors and the audio levels a bit.

I realize that the very first scene's colors don't exactly match the rest of the rooftop scenes and that's because I added the footage after I had already graded the rest of the video's colors and couldn't get it to match exactly.

Sue me. :)

This makes me sad, but I'm not sure if that was the intention.

    It's beautifully done, as usual.

I'd say it's meant to be sad. On a literal sense, Icarus's wife (or husband, in my case) is waiting for his return, not knowing he's plunged into the sea and drowned and it turns into a spiral of self-doubt that never finds a resolution. We never find out if the narrator discovers that he's drowned or if she (he) goes on assuming that he left because he wasn't in love.
I guess in retrospect, that's why I included footage of the kite crashing repeatedly (and legitimately broken in one scene) instead of flying.
I think this piece has less to do with losing love and more to do with how that lost love causes us to lose faith in ourselves.

Man, I sound so angsty. Haha.

i enjoyed this a great deal. there's a lot of strength in your presentation. i wanted more of the kite, closer shots, slow mo, and i loved the rooftop jump in the air. again i wanted more, perhaps a view from shoe level upward, under your face. i love the dialogue and felt the colors all played beautiful melancholy music together. ty

Yeah, the biggest complaint I got at my crit was that it was too much middle ground and background stuff but no foreground/close up shots. I didn't want to do a whole lot with slow-mo/special effects because there were certain parameters for the project that I didn't even follow to begin with, haha.
We'll see where my work takes me next though.
Thank you for the comment. :)

  • There's 2 minutes of my life I'll never get back. That was pretty stupid and pointless. All you did was lock the camera down in 2 locations and do a voiceover of someone else's work. Not very creative at all.

Lol, your opinion and criticism are respected and appreciated. Thank you.
  • No Offense "Solse Else" but if you have problems with a video you should think about doing constructive criticism instead of dishing out how "pretty stupid and pointless" something is.

The good thing about creating a piece of art is that it is completely subjective and many people with enjoy it, some will hate it, etc etc..However instead of telling someone that those were "2 minutes of your life that i'll never get back" you should maybe say what worked, what didn't work, and how the piece can be improved.

That's all I have to say.
