fire in architecture building
On 13 may a fire destroyed the entire architecture building on the campus of Delft University.
The official reading is that a leaking water pipe caused a short which caused a fire. The sprinklers had been turned off in order to repair the water pipe. Later they said that the building was old and was not even worth it to place sprinklers.
The fire rapidly destroyed the upper half of the south wing of the building, making the building unstable. That caused the fire fighters to retreat entirely from the building, after which the fire slowly ate away the north wing. The north wing finally collapsed, causing the fire to reach the ground and eating the remains of the south wing.
This video shows the spreading of the fire up to (but not including, I had no more tape left...) the point of collapse.

Dan denk ik, dit soort werk is toch alleen interessant op de avond zelf? En die willen dan 15 seconden en niet 10 minuten?
Achteraf misschien dat ze interesse hadden gehad als ik gelijk gebeld had.
LOL yeah if I only can shorten it to 15, 30 seconds :-D
Guess now they got a sound project for students to start architectural design for the new structure replacing that.
Did it collapse?
And yes it partially collapsed. A quarter of the north wing (the north and front half of it) collapsed, starting at the 10th floor, the floor below it withstood the impact of that first floor but the two above it that followed with it crushed that part. That collapse brought the fire down from the 7th floor down to ground floor after which lower half of the building also burned out.
nice video...
