Perceptual is an interactive installation that explores machine emotions. Participants are able to type a text using a computer keyboard which is displayed on a screen. The system tries to extract emotions and associated feelings like motion, sound and color from these words by comparing them to the entries of a large 'words - emotions' database. The system generates music in real-time using this information.

The music of Perceptual is generated by Max/MSP. For the user interface and database connection PHP, Javascript and MySQL are used.
