The News is an installation that feeds itself with current news reports from the internet by searching for RSS feeds. These posts are coming from two different sources: news websites and personal blogs. From these posts emotions are extracted and poetry and sound is generated in real-time. The eyes from The News both reflect a news source to show their difference in opinion.

Because the endless steam of messages is never the same, different emotions and subjects are being shown in the eyes every time. The combination of poetry, sound and video create a huge impact identical to that of the modern media which we see every day.

The News is a collaboration between Martijn Kuijten and Jori de Goede. The installation was built with Max/MSP, Jitter, PHP, Javascript and MySQL.
