The 21" x 13" print can be purchased at my new store! thebigpugh.bigcartel.com

The video is a condensed time lapse of screenshots over a several month period. Total physical drawing time is close to 40 hours and I'd add an equal amount of time for concept time and readying the print. A screenshot was taken every 5 seconds, which resulted in a full 18 minute video shown above. The condensed, more entertaining version is here: vimeo.com/927062

Dang! you have good taste in music Mr..
this sounds like Michael Nyman's barmittsva if Bill Laswell dosed the fish balls and then blamed it on Steve Zissou.
who did the track? its like the cook the theif his wife and her other lover, the prequel, staring Audry Tattou and Harvey Keitel with new songs by Holy Sonic Pods, featuring Rhabi Brickweed and the whole gang from
ok. im serious please tell me who that is so i can find it and play it when im doing the "Hand Thing " in my El Camino.
    who make that sound????
  • Iosif Dănuț 3 years ago
    I second that.

Also, did anyone pimp-slap themselves after Chad shrunk the perfectly-crafted cat?

I just didn't see that one coming at all.

The track is by the band MenoMena and I believe it's titled "Flour". I can't recall which album it's off of, but I highly recommend "I Am The Fun Blame Monster!"

Wow so thank you that 18 min video taught me more about that program then every book and website i have ever read. If I ever make anything that is half as awsome as that I could be happy. I know it sounds all dumb i think im just happy to see some one putting time and love in like that. It will keep me up and going another 3 days.

Better than the shorter version! I was mesmerized!

Whether you planned to or not, it seemed to have a narrative to it with morals as a result, about the balance of life on earth, the nature of scale and our perceptions of importance.

Even the way massive factories were created in a couple frames, but a simple creature would take 100. Strips away manmade ego.

And the insight into the artist's mind is awesome too. Like when you go back and change the stylized sheep into real-looking sheep.

I like your interpretation of there being a hierarchical importance of the different elements comprising the piece. While I meant no specific negative or positive relationship between man-made items and natural ones, I did think it important for them all to be interacting, like some impossible machine (thus the title).

Regarding your last part about insight into my mind, I was surprised to find that I found myself feeling "watched" as screenshots were saved while creating the piece. At first, I chose only to get my basic concept done but as I went on I felt the need to perform for the audience I wasn't even sure I would have in the future. It became a management of expectations of what my future self would consider interesting enough to display publicly.

I can't believe how much detail you put into that cat and person and then just made them too small to see.

This inspired my illustrator project. I draw maps, but whatever. Fun to watch the process.
