Pilot: Urs J.

Wing was flown by Urs J.

Getting used to the Icepeak 3. Many thanks to Regula that she lend me the wing for about 2 weeks.

All manouvers are flown unaccelerated and with trims set to neutral, loaded at the top of its weigth range, 85kg. Sure I would have liked to check how the wing behaves when flown accelerated but I didn't had the time to do so.

The first aim was to fully master the stall being somewhat prepared when things go wrong...
I had to try Helico, I just like that manouver ;-) But I wasn't able to keep the wing turning for more than 2 rotations. The wing stopped on its own all the time, maybe it's worth a try with open trims, next time ;-)

I had to train a few asymmetrical collapses to get how to stabilize and reopen the wing the best and fastest way.

About the frontal collapse: I just wasn't able to learn anything since I had to use my reserve that soon ;-) I nearly had to use it after I induced the first collapse (not filmed), the second one was OK and behaved as expected, after the third I throw the reserve. Maybe stalling the wing just after it got tangled could have solved the situation but I was actually not aware of my height.

This is nuts. Now we need a new word for the situation where one wingtip is cravatted in the lines of the opposite wingtip!

I assume you just pull the 'A' risers as usual to induce the frontal? Did you ask Niviuk whether this behaviour is actually similar to a 'real' frontal?

I would be interested to see the same with IP4/5, but maybe you should pack 3 reserves for that test :)
