Ok, here is some footage from the 550D, I was sitting behind Cameraman Dave Mirabella as we rehearsed for an event at the Melbourne Forum in Flinders St.
I was just messing around with manual focus (the main takeaway from this is:
1. I need glasses, there's no way I can focus on the external screen well enough to pull focus,
2. Still lenses (maybe just cheap ones) are not great for video, the difference between each end of the focus is about 5' and the lens goes out of focus when you zoom!
Still it looks nice, particularly slowed down from 60fps to 24fps and shows how well the 550D handles colours even at very low light levels, yes there's lots of noise, but it's relatively pleasant noise for digital, apart from the speed change and editing out one particularly ugly reframing there's no other changes made to the footage.
Music is "it's kinda funny" by Josef K, lablemates at Postcard records of Aztec Camera, Orange Juice and the Go Betweens(!) in the early 80s and the best of the bunch IMO.

It was chosen by sorting my iTunes library by song length and then picking one of the tracks that was the same length as the video, you couldn't do that with vinyl!
The other obvious choice that was "An Ending" by Brian Eno, but that was toooo obvious.
Also I think I am justified using the Josef K as I still own the album and 7" single (in rare Disques de Crepescule Belgian edition no less)
