Originally constructed in 1974, the Heygate estate provided a utopian residential solution for some of London’s displaced post-war communities. Forty-six years later it awaits demolition. A handful of residents remain scattered across the expanse of concrete slab blocks and tangled walkways. Film crews and lighting rigs now transform this dense residential landscape into a site of alien invasion or crime drama.

Utopia Revisited documents this surreal interstitial state between the occupation and demolition of the estate as part of the wider regeneration of Elephant and Castle. Recording found artefacts and spaces, Utopia Revisited serves as an ambient documentary that exhibits this transitional period.
