22. Go beyond oil
14. Have a break?
greenpeace.org/kitkat
Nestlé, maker of Kit Kat, uses palm oil from companies that are trashing Indonesian rainforests, threatening the livelihoods of local people and pushing orang-utans towards extinction.

We all deserve to have a break - but having one shouldn't involve taking a bite out of Indonesia's precious rainforests. We're asking Nestlé to give rainforests and orang-utans a break and stop buying palm oil from destroyed forests.

Thank you Nestle ... I would never have seen this video if you hadn't had it kicked off You Tube. Now I'm forwarding it all my friends, though Facebook, and guess what they are forwarding it to all their mates.

Fire your PR team. They are muppets.

Maybe a bit graphic, but it gets the message across. I'm not buying anything Nestlé for a couple of years now. Get it together, Nestlé!

  • Big companies must think we are very stupid trying to subdue information that they don't like. All Nestlé products are now banned from my office for that reason alone.

This video should be aired right after every nestlé ad in TV.

Thank you Nestle, I'd never have heard of it without you stupidly and falsely DMCA'ing it on YouTube. :-P

What do they claim to own the copyright on anyone eating a chocolate bar on YT now? Eh?

Good work! Continue to do own goals like that til you take your horrible 'chocolate'-margarine elsewhere...esp. if it's endangering the rainforest.

Funny how all of you are blaming Nestlé. They are not alone guilty here. GP took the KitKat stick/finger idea and I hope GP list more companies on their website.

I fully agree with the ad by the way... also palm tree oil is not the best for health, I wish they would susbstitute it for a better oil. A better oil that GP would also approve while we are at it!

I agree. This is an incredibly effective ad, but I hope Greenpeace is not just focusing on Nestlé, and is educating people about the fact that probably most food processing companies use unethical palm oil. (I wonder if there's any ethical palm oil -- does anyone know?)

I will never buy a Nestle product again, unless I hear incontrovertible evidence that the company has rehabilitated Indonesian forests and launched a program to protect orangutans.

Acording to a Nestlé Statement, they are going to use only "Certified Sustainable Palm Oil" by 2015... it's never too late, but without this GreenPeace Ad, what would happen instead?

    Shame on you Nestlé!

People love to bitch at Corporates .. they are only providing a product to service a consumer demand.
I do not think Nestle developed the means producing pail oil, what about the manufactures or the consumers?

Yes it is wrong to use plam oil and destroy forests and therefore animal habitat, but bitching is not going to stop it - how about putting your energy toward a solution. people are always going to demand junk food full stop. so think about positive subsitutions rather than just rant.

I guess it is easier to have a good bitch at consumerism sometimes than actually thinking.

I'd like to respond firstly to the previous comment, left by I would like to respond to the previous comment made by"jono";perhaps it might be better to actually think about why Greenpeace made this video ?which is highlighting the effects of destroying jungle enviroments for material gain through palm oil consumption ;which destroys the habitats and lives of the animals that live there;Orangutans, in this case..Yes Corporates are "providing a service " and they want us to "consume their products" wich means that "Us consumers have a right to demand that the products we consume, that help keep these corporations rich, have'nt been acheived by ransacking enviromentally delicate areas and further endangering an already endangered species...

Greenpeace HAS presented a solution; to expose Nestles tactics to the world and therefore force them to change there behaviour due to consumer pressure;boycotting Nestle products...

so Jono;Greenpeace are'nt "bitching" theyre influencing a change in Corporate Nestle behaviour!!

Bravo Greenpeace;excellent video..straight to the point!!

    I dont like kitkats anyway...

Great Jono! You have successfully made yourself sound like a bitch in your attempt to stop all the Bitching! How do you think your "bitching" about other people "bitching" is going to stop or help anything?
Besides being a Bitch you also got your facts wrong! "They are only providing a product to service consumer demand". They created the consumer demand for a product that nobody needs, besides actually creating the product or do you think the consumers came up with Kitkats and Nestle is solely supplying it? This is called Marketing, creating needs and servicing them through providing the product.
Then you also contradict yourself! You call out for people to think of a solution instead of Bitching, even though you are doing the same, and then you state that people will always demand "Junk Food". In your logic this problem will always be there but instead of Bitching people should think of a solution to a problem that can not be solved?!
Juno how about you enlighten us with a solution instead of just ranting? But then again you are right its easier to bitch at consumerism than to actually think.
Thank you for that impressive example!

Great vid so creative. The Orangutang finger communicates everything so well. The concept is the thing which makes that video so good and it connects on many emotional levels...

I think this is a win for creativity...
