so finally you got probably perfect mix, I'd say photo camera and camcoder in one tool. Here's lens you may find as interesting for use on your extreme trips: tinylink.pl/wjmt

what idiot create this stupid think about mystery blue dot :-D
My cam is good. Yesterday, I tried make film opposite the sun and I didn’t see blue dot.
I’m photographer, and I kwon that when sun look to wide lens (sometime) on frame are bliks (blik – polish means. I don’t know english mean). It’s kind of dots, spots on lens.

    you're wrong ;)
95% of camera owners, considers this to be a big problem.

"If you think a blue laser dot is normal, you need to find a new PROfession. Go to AVS forums and get educated. Shooting in normal sunlight, and NOT directly AT the sun, produced the blue dot. "
"The blue dot has been verified by multiple videos and is distinguishable from the lens flare."

If you do not believe me, read about it on avsforum or hdtv forum.
Or if you are a Sony employee, delete my posts.

all right... Yesterday I saw in my cam mystery blue dot. And I rolled on the flour laughing because it was a classic sunlight on lenses. :-D
Every professional cam with wide-angle lens has a little, magic thing - youtube.com/watch?v=oGS2YMs45IA

    thanks for comments :-)

    @Piotr
    They are not classic flares!

Show me another movie with a different camera, with BRIGHT "laser dot".
I repeat: BRIGHT "laser dot" and not the reflection.

    Phuong...

Shaw me different amateur cam with wide-angle lens ;-)
If you gently change zoom in HDR-550, or protect lens like in professional cam, blue dot will despair :-)

    Don’t be a fool.
Some idiot wrote about laser. Laser is a beam’s light. Mystery blue dot is a focus light throught lens. Like laser, but it's not the some :-)

    I’m not a sony employee :-)

    regards

Hello Piotr Materek, very nice test video, beautiful.
So, wich what camcorder are you shooting you for the 19 first seconds? The Sony HDR-CX550VE too, insn't it? So, if it's the case, I think it's a vey nice camcorder.
I am interested by the same model, with a 240gigabytes hard drive include, but I am afraid it makes lot's of noise....
