Every year in October, Albuquerque puts on the largest balloon even in the world. Over 700 hot air balloons arrive from all over the world for 2 weeks of flying events. One of the reasons Albuquerque has this event is that the flying conditions are perfect for hot air ballooning - high altitude location in the desert with air is cold in am, then warms up slowly, with visibility found no where else. On a good day balloons can stay aloft indefinitely due to a box-effect wind pattern.
This video was filmed on "Special Shapes" day which means that all the balloons are non-typical shape.
