During my shooting career, I got called for quite a few aerial shoots. As a result I have had some amazing jobs flying in some incredibly remote and scenic parts of New Zealand. In the majority of commercial shoots, obtaining a copy of the results is the hardest part. The shots here are a mix of Helicopter nose and side mount, Tyler, Continental and "hybrids", plus using a tripod in the back of a Cessna. Having a good relationship with the Pilot is key to getting a good shot. I have "invested" in several pilots whom really understand a lens and light. Some of my finest work has been with a friend, Steve Gibb, himself a former Cinematographer I used to assist. He gave it away for a distinguished flying career, including many years as a front line Rescue Pilot.
