In my final year as a graphic design student at CalArts, I chose to create a stop-motion piece for my final project. The goal was to illustrate the Biblical account of creation and end with the redemptive act of sacrifice. It incorporates about 7,000 photos, uses only natural materials, and was filmed with a manual vignette made by taping a piece of tracing paper with a small hole in it to the camera lens. This creates the soft edge and shape to highlight the sphere. The full stop motion video is 7 mins. long, so this is the short version.
Created in FinalCut and AfterEffects. 2011.
