See all Show me
I'm not sure if I like to do this without any proper directives. The possibility and creativity is endless! Thus there is no specific purpose on each applied within this footage. I'll call it a dry-run testing out various color pull with various effects and to see what looks good (or not) when applied to HD7 captured footage. It was definitely fun to see the difference compared to the original clip. There goes my Tuesday... Color correction gone bananas! :)

  • A good way to waste your Tuesday. Don't think it's a waste though!

This thing is vodoo!! I can't stay away from it! I know its just a pc of 35mm lens adapted to the camera. But it lets you see things differently. Like how one would appreciate oil on canvas in the 21st century... I've taken my vow to stay away from it for a couple of days. Room to breathe. And eventually think of something to work on next!

I like this ? Did you use any sort of filter and if you did can you lead me in the right direction of getting one ?
  • Hasan Ismail 2 years ago
No filter but a 35mm lens as seen in picture. I used a Nikon 50mm lens which projects the image onto a regular SLR focussing screen that gives a grainier effect - replicating the film look. Twoneil's been building em for small format cameras particularly for the Canon HV20. But he's kindly made me one for my JVC. :)

The color differences you saw between the original clip and this however were all color tweaks in post. I use Final Cut and played around with the Balance Hue Levels and Saturation. Just having fun with it.

I know its kinda strange. That even though we're in a period of HD; what our eyes seek is still the classics. Film grain and impurities that makes the video 'breathe' to life.

WOW! It's seems I will never catch-up.... I have no new videos to post as I have no computer that can handle HD yet, but I've been filming and watching your work and day dreaming....

My HD-6 dosn't have the manual controls on the camera like your 7 as I'm sure you know.

Do think there is a way we could some how get ful control over the cameras OS on our personal computers.

It think it could be a nice option for the HD-7 also...

Control settings(focus, ect.) without having to touch and possibly bump camera.

thanks for all your help in the wonderful world of A/V!

Frankly Ian, I just got my hands on video since November. I wish I have all the time to experiment and catch up. Having a program to have remote control would be sweet. But its JVC we talking about here... Fixing the OIS would be a great move to start with. ;)
