Ann Maxwell – Regional Inspector General, Office of Inspector General, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Chicago)
Evaluation Center: February 6, 2007
Within each federal department there is an independent oversight body charged with the task of evaluating the department's programs to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse as well as promote economy and efficiency and protect beneficiaries. This discussion will introduce you to these offices, the Offices of Inspector General, and the type of evaluative work they conduct. Specifically, we will focus on their approach to applied research, the methodologies they typically employ, the topics they cover, and the impact their work has had. Specific examples will be provided. The presentation will last approximately 30 minutes, leaving ample time for any questions you might have about this type of evaluative work.
