When sharing the Christian gospel of salvation by grace through faith alone (Eph. 2:8-9) with Mormons, they often resist the idea that we can be saved apart from our own good works. There are, however, interesting parallels between the Mormon concept of Baptism for the Dead and the evangelical Christian doctrine of grace. To help Latter-day Saints understand what we mean by salvation apart from our own works, this may be a helpful illustration.
