Step 1. OPEN THE DIYO SOURCE FILE
Once you have downloaded the DIYO Source File to you computer and have your Editing Software installed open the
program and navigate to the DIYO YouTube Template Folder and open the file named (DIYO YouTube Layout Source
File.png)
* Tip: Save the file now with a new name so you still have your unedited template file.
Step 2. EXPLORE THE LAYERS
Now we can explore the layers and find out which design element are in each layer. Find and expand the Layers Panel to
show the available layers of the file. From Top to Bottom the Layers are:
 Mask
 Mask
 Logos
 Main Area
 Background
The MASK LAYER contains the top layer that feather the edges of the image to a solid color for a seamless fade.
The LOGOS LAYER contains the Left Side Logo and the Right Side URL.
The MAIN AREA contains the Header, Video and Lower Panels as well as the main table of the layout.
The BACKGROUND LAYER contains the 5 Pre Installed Images that can be edited or replaced with your own.
Once you are familiar with the layers and their elements you are ready to begin editing.
Step 3. EDIT THE MASK
The mask determines what color the outer edge of your image will fade to. If you make this same color as your YouTube
Background Color Setting it will fade seamlessly into the YouTube Background. Highlight the mask and use the selection
tool to select the Pain bucket. Set the left and right color settings to the color you want to fade to. You can select any color
you like.
* Note: The colors do not have to be the same but the outer color should match the YouTube Background Color
Setting for a seamless fade.
Step 4. EDIT THE LOGOS
The logo layer contains the left and right text logos included in the file. You can edit or delete these elements. To edit the
desired element, double click it with the selection tool. Now retype the letters to say what you want it to say. You can set the
letter spacing, change the type face or the color of the type by adjusting the various properties. Now you may have to re-size
or reposition the text, do this with the arrow or by dragging it.
Step 5. EDIT THE MAIN AREA
The Main Area contains the Table, Header Panel, Video Panel and Lower Panel. Each of these elements can be edited to
create countless color variations. To edit each element, select it and use the properties settings to change or add borders,
change colors, add gradients or even textures.
* Note: The settings here will appear behind your content on YouTube only if you set the transparency of your table
to show it.
Step 6. EDIT THE BACKGROUND LAYER
The background layer contains 5 pre installed background options. You can change which one is shown by dragging it to the
top of the Background Layer. You can also adjust the color, brightness and transparency of this layer. You may also decide
to add your own image to the background. Simply import the file and drag it to the top position of the background layer.
Then size and position the new background image.
* Note: For best results, optimize your new image to 1400px X 1200px before importing a replacement background
image.
Step 7. SAVE YOUR IMAGE
Now you have a fully customized layout and we are ready to save the image. For best results you can optimize your image

automatically to a .jpeg, Better Quality. You can adjust this setting up to about 90%.
* Note: The upload limit to YouTube is 256 Kb., make sure your file is smaller than that.
Step 8. UPLOAD TO YOUTUBE
Now you are ready to upload your image to YouTube. Log into YouTube, proceed to your channel page and click the
"Colors and Themes" Button. Now find the "Show Advanced Options Link". Select the upload button and navigate to
your .jpeg background image and upload it. Once you have uploaded the image, set your table colors, background color,
transparency settings and type colors to your preference.
* Note: Don't forget to save your setting. You are finished and have a brand new fully customized YouTube
background layout.
