Radar for Life Map is a web GIS application that identifies geographic areas which are potentially damaged by natural disasters and enables the general public to remotely validate the damage. Radar for Life provides disaster response efforts with a unique, reliable and early source of information that makes quicker and more focused response possible. Radar for Life leverages Esri's ArcGIS platform and a novel radar data processing technique developed by the Advanced Rapid Imaging and Analysis Center for Natural Hazards, a co-venture by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Caltech, to demonstrate how GIS can improve disaster resilience.
Radar for Life Map has two primary functions: 1) to identify and visualize geographic areas which are potentially damaged by natural disasters and 2) to enable the general public to remotely validate the damage for use in disaster response effort planning.
