hideous and beautiful. I love that the title gives us so many connotations of warmth and nurturing, when the truth is so unimaginably different. The entrance of the child lily, walking backward is a taste of the abnormality to follow, the fall a clever device of light humour. the fish bowl takes us back to the reality that these are children, making the next scenes all the more difficult to imagine for them. I like the circular pan, very tight and claustrophobic. we see everything from the children's height and perspective, so we can more easily share in their experience, i love the speeded edit of the approach of mama, and the way she backs into frame at the end is genius....(again speed to define supernatural). This just shws what an ensemble can do...the mama actor effected a gait and posture that truly was alarming. The score was in complete alignment with the action. The lighting and set design almost gave away the hopelessness and helped the theme, and the script in such a short time convinced us that these were real sweet children worthy of our audience investment....
