A short film built from Time Lapse photography I shot around the World. While filming Commercial Projects, I took the time to shoot some time lapse sequences with my Canon 5DMKII using a variety of lenses including a 24mm Shift & Tilt, 50mm f1.4, 15mm fisheye & my 24-105mm zoom. The camera was controlled using a Canon TC-80N3 Intervalometer.

The sequences of images were assembled in Mpeg streamclip by Squared 5 and edited to music, created in Garageband, using Final Cut Pro.

Nice editing work on this, Karl - I like the way you've assembled the sequences, the tempo, and the music.

Thanks Edvard. I really enjoy both the creation of the music and the editing. I think my next Short Film I will spend a bit more time and care with the music & editing though!

I really liked this. I have to admit to playing guessing games as to the locations while watching it - I got 4 of the 5 right (but didnt recognise Singapore - the one I hadnt visited). I look forward now to looking through your other creations!

P.S. I just worked out you are from Melbourne! Great to see a fellow Aussie on Vimeo - I get the feeling that there are not that many of us here.

Melbourne is Home! I know of quite a few Aussie's using Vimeo but I guess it depends on your circle of friends. Vimeo is great for guys like us but maybe not for everyone?? Thanks for your comments mate!

Fantastic work, I love watching time lapses but hate doing them cos it's sooooo boring. How long did you stay by cmera on those shoots. Also what lens creates that kind of toy model look. Love your work.
Am about to order a 5D and it's a toss up between 24-70 and 24-105 lens but f2.8 24-70 currently favourite due to low light performance., so how is your 24-105 in that respect.
Look forward to your next short film.

Thanks David for your comment. You need to be patient with time lapse that's for sure. I think many people walk away from their cameras while it clicks away but I try to stay behind the camera to observe whats happening in the scene. Some times great things begin just as your sequence ends!! Mostly I only spend an hour or so on a shot however I have created some shots that took all day!

I use a 24-105 a great deal because it is so versatile but it's not the best of glass. For time lapse it's fine because I often use long exposure times. For night time HD Video work it's really too slow! As a general walk around lens it's brilliant so my advice is try and predict what kind of photography your likely to do with it.
