Pittsburgh has a long rich tradition of art in public places. Renee Piechocki, Director of Pittsburgh’s Office of Public Art offered The Pittsburgh Foundation donors a visually rich overview of Pittsburgh’s public art initiatives, showed them examples of how artists are currently working in the public realm, talked about behind the scenes processes of how art is commissioned and discussed best practices for public art. This presentation was followed by a 30 minute tour of some excellent examples of public art just a few blocks away from the Foundation’s front door.
