Drew--This is PERFECT! Great job capturing an honest slice of life many of us go through. Your ability to get everyone to open up and articulate the way they did is a big strength. Fantastic in every way.

  • Drew, the was utterly phenomenal, and I mean that completely. I am blown away. What a fantastic movie! Your editing was spot on, and the different perspectives of each situation was just too good. Also, it was just very enjoyable, you know? It was an incredibly well-made film, and I'm so glad that you were able to make it. Thank you.

You have some fantastic subjects here Drew, all very well spoken (especially Tirosh). Perhaps your camera needs to do abit more 'speaking' ,regardless, this film certainly indicates the reoccurring pattern of where these youthful streams of love flow to, and is a friendly reminder not to undermine the emotions of the teenager. Great job.

    Thanks everyone!

Kurt, My choice of camera placement was based on the idea of placing myself the same distance from them as I would in regular conversation. My hope was that by turning the camera more into my third eye and third ear instead of a camera, the people I interviewed would be more comfortable and just feel like they were telling me a story, instead of telling a story that would be shown to a ton of people.

And more practically speaking this allowed the sound to be clearer! :)

This does of course result in some shakiness and some tops of heads cut off, but overall I feel like the film is much more about what they are saying, than any cinematic aspects, so it was a sacrifice I felt was worth making.

Great stuff, Drew! Love it. After hearing Drew so much towards the beginning and middle, it became more fascinating to hear his story through all the girls.

I really liked it. Very charming, sweet, funny. It’s amazing how you got everyone to open up to you that much. Well done :-)

  • I like the short very much too. An observational and non-judgmental look at contemporary youth, who really aren't as shallow as condemend to be.

The shakiness was alright for me except for the Tirosh at basketball court part when I had to close my eyes for awhile due to motion sickness, but perhaps this must be forsaken for a closer interview style.

There aren't enough films about feelings... too many films about events.

Great stuff, Drew. Hilarious! I think it would be a hit wherever it was shown.

Wow. I honestly think that was the best documentary I've ever seen. I haven't seen that many, but really, it actually captured something real and fascinating and strange. I like how it wasn't an interview and you basically just let them talk.

    I'm so flattered!

  • Brilliant work, Drew, this is my favourite of yours so far, this is the one that feels the most complete. You have some great naturals in front of the camera, I hope you use them in your subsequent projects, too.

My favourite moment in the film is while you're talking to Tirosh in the car in the parking lot and Jillian turns up. And she's totally different from the interviews we've seen her before, that's some beautifully judged play of chronology.

Btw, the snickering during the interview is my style: vimeo.com/10326763
I order you to cease and desist.

:D The snickering bothered me at first, but then I watched it with other people and realized that it works as a laugh track!

Thank you so much! And as a matter of fact Tirosh and Samantha are the stars of my next film!

That's one of my favorite parts, too. A few people have asked why I kept it in, but for me it just is so spontaneous and honest, and I love how I was able to capture a little moment of their relationship, as casual as it may be. And as honest as they all were in the interviews, that scene was 100% random, so it was also 100% real.

Drew, your editing is flawless and the way you put everything together makes this a complete, cohesive, wonderfully funny and moving piece of filmmaking, one that shows raw and honest emotions in the most delightful way possible. And thank you for portraying me quite well, I'm so flattered, and very honored to be the subject of such a remarkable film, made by a great director, a fantastic person, and an incredible friend.

    Great job Drew!
