INTERACTIVE PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION
Located in Porta Castello square, between the Urban Center and the new Monza's railway station access, Canneto di Luce presents itself in a multi-chromatic and dynamic installation during the day and in a vibrant interactive light during the night, interpreting the square’s vitality, the pedestrian, car and train fluxus.
The interaction with the context is assured by electronic sensors which catch the movement’s and determine, through an expressly programmed software, the interpretation of different musical pieces played by the installation itsef. According to the intensity of the surrounding noise, from Mozart to Chopin, they will thus give life to a symphony of dynamic light, the sequences of which will be a reflection of Porta Castello’s life.
The installation designed by Marcello Arosio, is a composition of wrinkle plastic pipes, usually used for underground wiring, of different height and color, held up in a vertical position by a metallic base.
The imperceptible movements that comply the wind, play the role of a bed of reeds. At night, the plastic-pipes' inner lighting, changing its intensity in a constantly changing set of context-dependent melodies, introduces a multicolor rhythm of lights in Porta Castello’s night landscape, underlining the birth of the new public space.
