Until three weeks ago I've never heard the word KROCHA before, but then director Catherine Radam cleared me up; KROCHA is a new part of the Austrian youth culture and remembers me deep on the early 80s mixed up with techno and house music. Catherine asked me, if I would like to shoot a few images of a KROCHA contest and I said yes. Here's the result.

Filmed on HVX with a Letus Adapter, colour corrected with Magic bullet Looks.

Music: Philipp Glass - from passages meetings along the edge

    Wonderful.
Ridiculous, but in Russian "krocha" sounds like "baby".

That's funny, thanks for the reference.

I should add in Austria it means something like "to crash into something"

Nice vid...was wondering what it would be like if you put some fast forward rather than just monotonous slow motion. I'm waiting to see your next vid.

Hey, great video. A question for you ...

I saw a picture of your rig somewhere else and I'm curious, where did you get the shoulder support that you have attached to the rods?

How much does the whole rig weigh? And how is the balance on the shoulder?

    Thanks!
  • Bewegtbildarbeiter 1 year ago
Hi Peter, it's a Redrockmicro shoulder mount for 270$ + shipping fees and it's screwed directly into the base plate of the rig. You can see a video of the shoulder mount here:

    vimeo.com/1403474

My Rig weighs about 9 kilograms and is ballanced okay except if you use very long lenses.

Love the way you set the dancing to completely different music. It fitted really well with the mood created with MB Looks.
  • Bewegtbildarbeiter 1 year ago
Thank you Vinny. Was fun to do.

very nice color correction, I liked how the pinks popped!
  • Bewegtbildarbeiter 1 year ago
Thanks Juneteenth. The light on location was horrible, but DVCPRO HD has enough reserves for such a kind of colour correction.

Nice images..... loved the editing and the music... my only question is, why would the russians want the 80's back.... my guess it's some kind of secret plot to take over the world

I really like it! However, I don´t think that Phil´s comparison to the vienna.at video is entirely fair. Your video is like your own piece of art, but it is so stylized, that it does not really convey what the dancing really is like with the actual music that was being played on the location. Also, I don´t like the slow shutter. It makes the movements a little too blurry. But you already said that there was not enough light, so I guess there was no way around it.

    Other than that, really cool!
By the way, what does the Letus Extreme cost when you import it to Austria?

Servus, vielleicht läuft man sich ja mal über den Weg. :-)
  • Bewegtbildarbeiter 11 months ago
Hi Roland, thanks for the compliments, I also think you can't really compare both videos, TV works in another way.

I paid about 1200€ with fees, taxes and transport. But the dollar was very cheap last year.

Nice, can I ask what type of lens did you use with the letus adapter? Thanks
  • Bewegtbildarbeiter 9 months ago
A bit late, had so much to do. I used two different Zoom lenses; a Tokina 28-75mm Aspherical and a long Sigma Zoom 70-200mm APO. Have a nice day.

good video. You could've lessen the motion blurr by shooting at a higher frame rate.
