Terence McKenna Performs with Lost at Last
1 year ago
Towards the end of his illustrious 'career' Terence pioneered a form of performance art, where he spoke/chanted/channeled with musical backup from the Techno Tribal Trance Dance Maui band, Lost at Last.
This performance piece took place at the Maritime Hall in San Francisco, CA on 12/12/98.

In retrospect, I have recently reconsidered that this period was a kind of "personal eschaton" or "singular singularity" for Mr. McKenna. His life, ideas and performance powers had all accelerated to this point and indeed he himself couldn't see how this could go much further. When we saw him in Hawaii in February 1999, after Palenque and yet more appearances, Terence was visibly (and reported to us) tired out of his gourd, wondering if he could keep doing this kind of thing (part of his interest in using avatars and virtual worlds to forego some of this wearing down travel).
So it wasn't that some accelerating world end-graph was chugging toward us, scheduled to arrive by 2012, it was that Terence's own life was accelerating beyond his means to comprehend his own future. His end was to come by the Millennium (the year 2000, not by the Old Kaiser's reckoning) but that doesn't mean that any fixed date in the future carries our own. For each who seeks ever more Novelty is possibly destined to arrive at a personal eschaton of sorts (or just to sort it all out and get off the bloody train some time in middle to older age).
Anyway just a personal perspective on this recently rediscovered video (thanks Al!).
