who is the villain here?? the guy who is fishing to kill the sharks and fishes, or the shark trying to kill the human for food.....i am confused....both have equally violent intentions (the human more)...

What software package did you use? Looks like Blender? Great job, excellent characters, great animation. Would have liked to see more attention to detail in the man's eyes, and more poly's on the seagulls wings, but great work nonetheless
  • Moles Merlo 1 year ago
    Hi James
I used maya for all the modeling and animation tasks.

Wow!!. great picture !. How did you this ?. Do you have acomputer program that does this kind of picture ?
  • Moles Merlo 1 year ago
Well it was maya for 3D, renderman/mental ray for rendering + some scripts I made for effects like the drops from the wet shark, wake on water ...
    shake was used for compositing.

really nice. Better cinematography and story outline could have been used but hey its still great. Also I think the eyes could do with some veins or something. It kinda makes the guy look like an innocent child or something.

    ps great work.

  • loved the lighting and credits.

Totally agree. Story should always come first. In this case it seems it was pieced together last.

Sorry to be critical. Fantastic CG artist, terrible storyteller.

Story and character motives are a bit too ambiguous for my taste as well. I don't really understand some parts (shark looks at the indifferent seagull, why exactly the shark wants to kill THAT human), but that does not get in the way of what an awesome job you did animating and modeling. Nice!

ok man the water coming off the shark when it landed on the dock was SUPERB!
The animation itself on the shark was sooooo good. Had a classic tex avery style but also worked in 3d well.
I cant believe you did this all yourself.
The directing was GREAT! The timing and the angles worked perfectly. This is really inspiring!

I don't really understand how people found this funny. I've found "stupid shark" jokes funny in other animated films but this just seemed cruel. The screaming made me nauseous.

Still, the imagery was very nice.

Not so sure about the story line...
  •
  • Silke Vehlow 1 year ago
It's good work but I don't understand why the setting is mediterrean and the guy is the stereotypical fat American? How does that combine? And the seagulls fighting Asian style is real old (Flight from the Zoo ecc.). Not very original.
However, the imaginery was real great!

Great graphics, but it seems a lot of effort put into a movie whose story doesn't make sense and the humor of which I don't get
  •
  • Jason R. Johnston 1 year ago
A few things: The dissolves were unmotivated. I had the same question as the bird: why is the shark out of the water? How did the story suddenly go back in time to 1912? The man's walk seemed a little too wooden.

Other than that, I enjoyed the cartoon very much. Excellent lighting and camera work (I'm glad the camera felt heavy and real) and the foreshadowing was subtle enough. Excellent credits, though.

hey really really great work ... !!
    very professional !
ask me a question please !
i never had the chance to use SHAKE ..
    i only use after effects...
    for compositing.
Did SHAKE makes that big difference or for you doesent matter?
    tks !
keep up the good work !
  • Moles Merlo 1 year ago
    Hi thiago
Well I love shake because of its node based system.
Nuke is also good for that.
But After Effects is great too and could help to achieve very complex tasks just as the ones above.
I just don't use it often by preference.
