This is a music video for Fiona Sally Miller
myspace.com/fionasallymillermusic

It's cross processed super 8 (64t). That's reversal (slide) film developed as negative
Made like that because I had to do some film penance having been involved in a couple of video projects recently.

actually I meant the film grain, but now you mention it...

Did you cross process yourself, or did you have someone do it for you? and, if so, who?

    Really cool, by the way.
  • mat flemo 2 years ago
I did it myself. It's not too tricky once you have a spiral or other such gadget. and doing it yourself means you can test - which is really handy.

    Nice one!
You've got the best out of the stock's dancing grain with those close-ups. Really stylish.

thanks. It freaked me out a bit at first. Hearing the clean audio with the rough grain. but i really like 64t in artificial light.

There's beauty in grain. Glitchy audio and grain is a bit passé. I think it's work really well.
Hope to see some more x-pro super8!

Wow, this came out great. The contrast of the clean audio with the grainy image is really satisfying!

How did you do the trick at 1:13 in the end?
  • mat flemo 2 years ago
It's just a really crude matte. around her head on the left. I couldn't do what I wanted because i couldn't get a key in the mush of grain and the background colours were subtly different because of hand process and the dress is close to the background in tone etc etc headache. you had to go and ask didn't you! Sob! See you at the cumbo, enjoy the sunshine.

It worked perfectly! I don't know what you're sobbing about. See you later.

I agree with the other comments. The clean audio works perfectly with the heavy grain. I like the simplicity of the video as well. One of the best music vids I've seen in awhile.

    Mat,
This is an extraordinary super 8 video!
What kind of camera did you use to get such great sync? Something crystal synced?
