This short film is inspired by an avant-garde genre of movies called city symphonies that emerged in the late 1920s. These films were best characterized as silent, colorless films that took an abstract look at a place’s people, places and things. Footage is taken from a post-industrial district in Glasgow called Tradeston. Overall, I tried to film Tradeston in the way that I feel and experience it. Many times this area is perceived as dilapidated and an eyesore, but I tried to convey its poetic side through an abstract lens.
