This project was submitted for my graduation project - it all started with an illustration and a fascination with visuals and sound working in harmony. Initially the animation was intended as a narrative based piece, with a character discovering he can play music and learning to play music with others, though during the process of linking the sound to visual elements, I realised that I had constructed the beginnings of what could easily be a simple interactive music sequencer that could be picked up by children with relative ease. Referencing synaesthesia as an inspiration, I linked up each musical note (A through to G#) to a colour, and then each different sound to a shape - allowing the music to be 'seen' as it is being played much easier than a conventional sequencer.
