Poorly planned growth in the Bay Area has led to almost complete reliance on cars. Today, half of greenhouse gas emissions in our region can be attributed to the passenger vehicle and this will only increase if we maintain our current development patterns. We have a huge challenge. Communities must be reshaped around walking, biking, and public transit with a mix of homes, shops, offices, community facilities, and parks. In order for this to happen, residents must be organized.
