I have been so inspired by the users here that I needed to join and add a segment that was inspired by the many beautiful time lapse segments here on Vimeo.

This is my first attempt at digital photography time lapse and I know there are many flaws but critique is encouraged.

Unfortunately as I was driving home from work a poor dairy farmers hay stack was on fire.

All shot with Canon D40 with no tripod (I know I need one as my segment jumps) but camera on top of my Mini Cooper and manually adjusting exposure for about 1.5 hours. I also want the Canon TC-80N3 but until then I have only my finger. Over 450 images were captured. Edited with FCP with many slow motions and speed adjusted. A few shots were layered with composite mode used with the add feature and the top layer adjusted just 2 frames ahead of the other. A HUGE THANK YOU to Dalas Verdugo for his segment that gave me that idea.

Also check out this link for a Time Lapse tutorial.

you know, after attempting to do something like this first hand. It's not as simple as it looks. You did a really amazing job with the color and keeping it still... especially with no tri-pod! I did so many mess ups that I had to cover it all up by making it look like I did it on purpose. Again, great job.

p.s.- I heard Shadow Play on the radio today and it got me jazzed to finish it.

It's a seattle non-commerical radio station called KEXP 90.3. check it 'em out at kexp.org and you can get listen to them online, they do tons of great in-studio performances. I love that station.

I don't know if you're still interested, but I recently found out you can use a graphing calculator to trigger shutter release through the link cable. I had one laying around from school, so it was cheaper than buying a timer. Here's the tutorial.
