The Langston Hughes African American Film Festival is the Northwest's fastest growing Black Film Festival. The 9-day festival opens Saturday, April 17 with "NURSE.FIGHTER.BOY' nominated for 10 Genie Awards including Best Actor and Best Motion Picture. Nurse.Fighter.Boy is presented in partnership with the Metropolitan Sickle Cell Task Force.
The Festival features a variety of shorts, narrative features and documentaries with 18 Seattle Premieres, 8 world premiere films, live music events and a special Family Fun Friday featuring a live Double Dutch Jump rope exhibition with NW Double Dutch.
Each night features a powerful film with filmmakers and panel discussions featured after most films.
Closing Night brings a gala celebration of the soul music genius of Bill Withers. Join us as Seattle vocal powerhouse Josie Howell takes the stage with Umeme to serenade the audience with a medley of Bill Withers as part of the Closing Night Gala screening of "STILL BILL".
