This is beyond epic Tom! I love seeing all of our hard work and long nights from the past few months come to life! These shots are amazing and I thank you for bringing me along for the ride! I'm already looking forward to coming back out in the fall! Assisting you has been most fun and best learning experience I think I've ever had! =]

Excellent fresh footage. I really like the texture and shape of the rocks. They are different. Also like the young indigenous dancer. What frame rate did you shoot that at? And I love the camera movements torwards the subject. I also seem to perceive more shape and depth in some of the shots such as the cactus. Great job, I know that it is a lot of work and that you probably get a bit anxious until you pull off a something fresh and great that makes your skin tingle. Thanks for all of the updates and keep on shooting : )

Tom I swear you make this look so easy but I hope everyone out there understands how ridiculously hard it is to make timelapse look this great even though you do it over and over again! The Indian dancer was the best :)

Actually the shot of a dancer brings new quality to your film, renders an interesting context and makes the rest of the footage much more meaningful. Are you planning on exploring this direction more in depth?
  • Tom Lowe pro 1 year ago
Yes. That was my first shot ever on the Red camera...

You are the MASTER of Time lapse tom. You killed this one. Love the Clint Mansell track too. Jonathan and I just saw this in our hotel room and were in complete Awe!! I cant wait to see the rest of this film.

This is on the same level, if not better than Baraka's timelapse footage.

What's the crazy erratic light in the background on the last clip?
  • Tom Lowe pro 1 year ago
Military activity. We filmed that at the US Air Force's Goldwater bombing range. Those are battlefield illumination flares and planes circling.. maybe drones also, and who knows what else.

Incredible and inspiring. Is that shot of the wind turbines at 00:53 from a moving vehicle?
    Great work, Tom!
  • Tom, this is out of this world AWESOMENESS!!

I especially like the drive by wind turbine shots, what have you used to mount the 5D on your tundra? it seems way too smooth to be a car mount.

    Shed some light please, anyone?

As awesome as ever. Just one thing jarred my over all enjoyment for me the dancing Indian was well to be honest too normal too wide too safe I would have liked to have seen a more impressionistic vision through flames, slow mo etc using the music to better effect and fitting in with the time laps more smoothly for me more comfortably.

It seems churlish to mention this when the time and effort you have put in to the time laps is quite staggering but just thought I would give a more critical critique than the usual gush which teaches us nothing.

Mind you I have gushed to excess over your fantastic footage in the past no end, hope this helps.

Way cool, congrats! What did you use for the dolly work? And how the hell did you get that shot @ around 0:55? Did you put the camera on the truck again? And then some heavy stabilisation work? Good stuff!

Loading the Video currently, but i've got to say you're already getting great marks from me sheerly for music choice. The Fountain is my favorite film, and the music is awesome.
