“Deconstructed Reality”—in a world where seeing is believing, using the premise that our realities are limited by what we are willing to believe—questions how our visceral, emotional and metaphysical conceptions shape our reality; how we perceive the known and unknown; and how innovation and experience relate to design.
“All that you see or seem” —a fragment taken from Edgar Allen Poe’s “A Dream Within a Dream” serves as the lingual metaphor. Poe’s 1848 prose poem Eureka pinned him an inspirational yet appropriate literary exploration as he was interested in and published work on cosmology, and on the material and spiritual universe.
A dream within a dream is a poem which personally evokes a sense of ethereality within a
universe of unknowns. Displayed here through photography, “Deconstructed Reality” [the first in a series of planned installations exploring how design and quantum theory relate] exists as a three-dimensional, immersive light installation.
