加拿大獵殺海豹季是全世界最大規模的海洋哺乳動物屠殺，每年四月開始，被獵殺的海豹中有將近97％出生還不到3個月，絕大部分不滿1個月齡，其中許多海豹寶寶出生後連固體食物都還沒吃過，甚至也不曾下水游泳。
