In this segment, Andy takes us to the Lemelson-MIT Collegiate Student Prize Award Ceremony, where U of I Junior Jonathan Naber was awarded the $30,000 prize.
This prize at Illinois encourages the creation of new, sustainable solutions to real world problems. Naber has developed an affordable prosthetic arm to serve populations in underdeveloped countries. Guided by his passion for helping those less fortunate, Jonathan and his team, the Illini Prosthetics Team, used low-cost materials to create an arm that is extremely functional, durable and easily manufactured.
