I always saw these things and wondered: how come you don't come out green/blue too?

I am red/green colorblind so I can't easily see slight color differences. Does the ring color you at all? Or have you taken this slight cast out in post?
  • Philip Bloom 2 months ago
no it doesnt, make sure you adjust intensity to avoid too reflections. If you do get some colour on you take it out with colour spill in post, but as long as you light the talent enough you wont see any blue or green

a similar (if not same) backdrop was used at the 'newseum' in D.C.

but they didn't reflect light off the entire piece, instead only the silhouette of the subject. how it's possible i have no idea.

We have this system at school and it's pretty cool. I've only tried it with dv footage, so I haven't been able to get a perfect key on it.

wicked .... from your EXTREME "make over video" to this. Where to next? Thanks again.

Tomorrow I will upload a video that guarantees you to drop at least two dress sizes. It worked for me. I used to be just like Roseanne Barr

My wife uses one of these in her studio. I was having trouble understanding what she was talking about because it sounded too good to be true. Thanks for posting this video - now I'm a believer!

I saw a system like this 4-5 years ago--same concept with the reflective screen and LED ring light on the camera. I wonder if this is the same company?
The results are certainly superb for minimal setup and lighting requirements. The key to this whole thing working is the extreme narrow refractive index of the screen material. Very clever product indeed!

    Probably the same product!

That does look really interesting. Thanks for posting this Phil. My only question is related to the hard edges around the subject. Is this easy to resolve? Although the key looks very clean, you are very very sharp along your contour.

that is probably more my bad keying with FCP. I have seen some stunning examples online with perfect keys.
