I couldn't resist, I had to colour correct...it's like this involuntary impulse thing that I have in my brain as soon as clips are imported into my editing software. I just watched yours and it was really beautiful :-) <3 I'm glad you did this as well.

Haha..to be quite honest, I still use iMovie when I do stop motion...it receives my photographs better than Final Cut Pro does... shhhhh

I always wondered how Final Cut Pro handles photos... I've been very very very reluctant to use it. I think I need to upgrade my processor and get an external hard drive first. The times I've used it before have resulted in massive headaches due to horribly long rendering times. Is it just a sacrifice of using FCP? Waiting for minutes, sometimes almost an hour for something to render? Teach me your ways, wise mistress of Final Cut Pro! I am but a student here.

FCP is totally worth it....if you have complicated editing to do. Just the sheer capacity in which you can manipulate and finesse all your cuts is leaps and bounds over iMovie. But that comes with a price that comes in the form of long rendering and export times. However, despite its few caviots, its overall worth it. The renders are only as long as however complicated what you do is mixed with how powerful your compy is. I'm an AVID girl that has crossed over to FCP so I've been learning its ways for the past couple months. I'm so tired I have no idea what I just wrote.

hahah thanks alot Matthew. Well I didn't learn editing at all until my last half of college. I just used the school's computers to do AVID, it's super expensive. But after a year of doing it I won some award for the school's media festival and they actually gave me AVID. :-)

I did 2 years of AVID, then when I graduated and went to grad school I did FCP..i've been doing that for a year and a half now. I like both, they are cute. I only use AVID maybe once every month or so now..just for practice.

No one notices colour correction (that's the point) unless you compare it with the before and after. When I started doing colour correction....oh man...there was no turning back after that. I pay extra careful attention to colours as they occur in real life. Maybe I should just be a colorist. It's kinda fun...kinda. But I still have plenty to learn.

Hahah Glenn it was totally a SLOPPY edit. Usually i go through and mark the entire audio before editing anything..so that I dont have to stare at waveforms while I edit video...I do them separately. Also..I labeled my video tracks. Also these are premature screenshots about 1 hour into editing, so I didn't accomplish much in the timeline because I spent too much time correcting the colour. haha

I edit blindly and by chance. Audio...L and R. There are always two for one piece of audio.

Hhaha waveforms can be turned on and off. silly

Ahh yes, left and right, of course! I thought only certain audio apps like Pro Tools did that.

Oh well, waveforms.. that's good :) But whenever I've seen a FCP screenshot there's never been a waveform visible. Plus I remember a guy I knew with FCP who didn't know if or how the waveform could be displayed. He would edit by ear which I thought was a bit crazy.

If you click on the photo and go to the flickr of the photo and look on the bottom left hand corner, the third button with lines and a dot are to turn the waveforms on and off.

Why would anyone rely on editing by ear?

Most of these silly videos I have on my vimeo i just put songs that I like. But if it's for something more serious I either have my friends compose the score or I get contracts with either artists or labels to get permission to use their songs.
