Sorry Lauren I slipped and deleted your comment! I agree the Qatsi films are over-hyped, there are some great moments and cinematography in the films but they don't flow. In my opinion Baraka is the best in that genre. Probably has a lot to do with Reggio not being involved in it.

I watched and thoroughly enjoyed Koyaanisqatsi on a night when my head had been seriously changed in college, then re-watched the next weekend when my mind was unaltered, and the two experiences couldn't have been more different. I feel like this piece, unlike that one, would be equally good in both states of mind.

I kept waiting for that animation of the pirouetting woman, that apparently spins left or right depending on which side of your brain is more dominant ...

    Sweet, Aaron!

As a Reggio and Glass fan, I really liked this video. The creativity behind it (using strictly animated GIFs, the specific Glass track used, and the theme) was just brilliant!!

I went out and bought K-aatsi when the VHS was $89... and one of these days perhaps it'll be on IMAX, hm? This is hilarious at least. Glass' work is great if characteristic (repetition has virtue!) and the vid takes a good swipe out of those who've deified Philip Glass, I suspect, and not the music at all.

I assume of course you've caught the multiple homages to K-aatsi on the Simpsons...
No artist should avoid having fun at his own expense..!

Sweet video. It made my brain explode with creativity. I then wrote about a guy that didn't brush his teeth and considered getting a gun to cure his toothache. Only this video could have made me dream that one up.
