Christine Sauer has been a studio artist and educator in New Orleans since 1984. She exhibited her paintings, mixed media pieces and installations for many years here and in other cities around the country. More recently, she incorporated fiber techniques into creating her work.

Abstract imagery, the natural world, and the human form, are the sources of inspiration for her work. Christine Sauer enjoys responding directly to materials and processes. Using an improvisational approach to manipulating materials, be it textiles, paper or paint, she creates layered, dense, textured surfaces. Stitching, knitting, crochet, and beading are some of the techniques that she features in her textile pieces. Rich color is used to enhance the dramatic impact of Christine’s imaginative view of matter, energy and the infinite variety of life forms and processes.
