Gorgeous! Subtle and very cinematic. Great choice in "time of day" - parallels the "fading" event. We have similar aesthetic preferences, for sure! I am inspired. Thanks for the creation!
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
Thx Sean !!! Nice to hear that !

Beautiful work!! what lenses did you use?
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
    Thx ! Mostly the 85mm f1.8

Wow. These are some of the best images I have seen from the video DSLRs. If you don't mind me asking, what sort of color correcting/grading did you do? I really like the aesthetic.
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
Thx Tanner, I used Magic Bullet for color correction this is a wonderful plugin for FCP, Premiere...
  • Cesar Ramirez plus 1 year ago
Very cool David. Love the coloring

  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
  • Julien Taillez pro 1 year ago

  • Aurélie LAUMONT plus 1 year ago
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago

Thx Benjamin ! Nice that you love it !

  • Fabrys plus 1 year ago
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago

Do you remember what Fstop that you use on the 85mm 1.8? I'm impressed with the sharpness of some shots!
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
It depends on the shots but I was between 1.8 and 4

Nice job David! Nice performances from your actors too. Along with the right choice of music. What really struck me is the 85m depth of field on the 5D Mark II. Its looks so good on here. Makes the 5D Mark II stand out. But it really comes down to what you are shooting. Which is why I liked Ashes.
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
    Thanks a lot Davincicode :)

  • Michael Palacios plus 1 year ago
This was great, A lot of emotion captured! The face in the ashes was a great touch.
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
Thx Michael, the face into the ashes I want it very light in order not to be cliché
  •
  • Audrius Žilinskas 1 year ago
Oh though it was briliant :) big aplause to the actors and of course to the creator as well ;) , showed everything as it was in real life, real feelings, real story. Keep going.

  • Derek Lawrey plus 1 year ago
This was nice and very well done...

I can spot Magic bullet a mile away, and it was 2 minutes too long...

But I like the kind of twitchy editing style...
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
Thanks Derek, that was a kind of rought edit for festivals it will be better :)
  • Its a great short, great!
Perhaps Derek is right on the timing, and its a tad too long. But very well done. Love it. And the actors too, specially the guy

This was really awesome. I really liked it a lot. The music was gripping as well. The only thing I didn't like was the woman's face at the end. It looked a little awkward and seemed like something that felt a lot better in your head.
Other wise. Good work. Keep it up
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
Thx Nick for the face at the end, I wand it very light so as to avoid cliché but you still don't like it ;)
  •

  • Loomax 1 year ago
    Simple et efficace. Bravo
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
  • Loomax 1 year ago
Je peux te demander quel stabilisateur tu as utilisé ?

A great story teller doesn't even have to use words. The pain on Dan's face (lead) was so heartbreaking! Great acting and choice of shots.

Looking forward to seeing more from you!
  • David Dang plus 1 year ago
Thanks Kaj !!! You can see my other shorts shot made within 48h on my page.
